CONNIE VARGOVICH L Connie's History
Connie Vargovich is no victim of rape but is a proven and twice convicted liar, frequent false accuser, abuser of the legal system, falsely accused other men and boyfriends of rape, and made the same kind of allegations against others that she made against Don. Her documented habit is to make false allegations against the people who anger her. It's how she gets revenge. Even while Don sat in jail awaiting trial on her false accusations here, Connie was busy making similar claims against yet another man in Michigan court!
While Connie and Don were living together in Don's home, Connie hosted one beer party after another for her friends and family. She had a serious problem with alcohol, severe personality disorders, has been to psychiatrists for evaluations and was recommended for commitment to obtain proper treatment. But Connie threatened to commit suicide if committed so was instead prescribed psychotropic drugs to control her mood swings and personality disorders. At trial, she admitted that she had not been taking the medication.
It takes extreme cruelty to falsely accuse someone who has cared for you like Don had cared for Connie, yet she did; without any remorse or conscience at all, she sent him to prison. Connie appears to thrive on other people's pain and being cruel to them and she especially enjoys other people's pain if she caused it. This is all demonstrated by her history, false accusations against Don and by what she did in a courthouse hallway where Don's mom sat crying her eyes out over what was happening to Don at trial. When she saw Don's mom crying, Connie pointed at Don's mom and said, "That makes me laugh!" How cruel. But is she still laughing now that the entire community knows she has lied?
To learn just a little bit about who Connie Vargovich is and about some of her well established habits, let's take a look at some of the documents we were able to acquire:

We are also trying to obtain other documents similar to the above. For example, Connie and a recent boyfriend were living together in Union City, Michigan. Like Don and others, he too decided to break up with her, and, like Don and others, ended up in jail because of it. Connie also put a prior boyfriend in prison for rape, but Michigan will not release those records due to the so-called "Privacy Act" (protects privacy of real victims).
From documents we do have, it is already quite clear that Connie is not your average girl next door. Both before and after accusing Don there are many documented instances of her demonstrating bizarre and violent behavior, drunk-driving, car accidents while drunk, speeding tickets, losing her driver's license, forced into a drunk-driver program, bar fighting with men and women, attacking her prior boyfriend with a hammer, disorderly conduct and even violently attacked and bit a bartender after Don's trial.

II. Nicknames Given to Connie by Her Family & Friends
Connie's friends and family have several nicknames for her. The non-vulgar ones we care to print here include "The Con", "Psycho" and "Six-pack". These are earned nicknames. "Con", because can con just about anyone into anything; "Psycho", because she can go `psycho' at the drop of a hat; and "Six-pack" because that's all it takes for her to begin exhibiting the usual extreme personality disorders, aggression and violence.

After trial, Connie admitted to a witness that "Don did nothing wrong" to her and said she "doesn't know why she did this" to Don. Her sister then yanked Connie away saying, "Come on Connie, let's go, you're hanging yourself." At Don's trial, this same sister admitted to giving false information about Don to police (to assist the plot against Don).

Connie was also observed on many occasions threatening prior boyfriends with revenge and threatening she would `make them pay' after they (like Don) decided that they had enough of her outrageous acts and personality disorders so decided to break up with her.

Don's son, Kirk also heard Connie threaten Don with revenge if he ever broke up with her and threaten him that she can "tell police anything" and "they will believe her". Kirk sent his statement to Judge Madden years ago, but was ignored. A witness also swore out an affidavit saying he heard Connie threaten to "make Don pay" if he broke up with her and `promise' that if he does he would "never have another girlfriend as long as he lives".

Besides the affidavit of a witness to whom Connie confessed Don's innocence after trial, there is other objective, direct and circumstantial evidence proving she falsely accused Don and committed perjury: Because police initially refused to arrest Don, Connie's first attempt to have him arrested was unsuccessful because, though she was trying very hard to obtain Don's arrest, the only complaint she came up with was that Don broke her lantern mantle, bruised her thigh 2-weeks earlier and has `guns in the house'. The officer told her he didn't see who caused the bruise, didn't see any broken lantern mantles, and explained that it is no crime to have a gun in the house. Now Connie was really mad!
She then went to the police station, filled out a multiple choice domestic violence form given to her by the Iron County Sheriffs Department and circled nearly every claim on the form, including claims she had not made earlier when trying to have Don arrested and claims she would never make again. These multiple choice answers had given her new ideas for accusations. Even though this was her second attempt to have Don arrested, her written statement specifically DENIED being raped. Because she was now claiming Don had pointed a gun at her, he was arrested. When she later learned Don would post bail and go home, she returned to the police and changed her story. She now claimed `rape'.
After Connie's first story failed, she had evolved and escalated her story again and again. At trial, Connie herself admitted that the accusations for which Don was on trial were not her original complaints. Connie now has 6-different stories on record and failed to answer 7 out of 10 questions concerning her own story asked by Don's attorney at trial. Rather than be exposed in one lie after another, Connie claimed `memory loss', though only 50days had elapsed since Don's arrest. She and the DA found it convenient to have Connie claim memory loss rather than answer the critical questions that would expose her lies. Of the 3 out of 10 relevant questions she did answer, all of these answers conflicted with all of her prior stories! Connie is simply unable to tell the same story twice. |

Connie was also caught lying at trial. She told the jury that she and Deputy Joe Robinson had returned to Don's house after his arrest and recovered the clothing that DA Lipske was introducing as `evidence'. Connie testified she went back to the house with Robinson and gave him the clothes there and described how the deputy put the clothes into a bag, which bag she identified as being the same bag at trial. To back up Connie's story, DA Lipske then called Deputy Robinson to testify. But Robinson refused to lie. He told the jury he had NOT recovered any clothing from Don's house at any time! DA Lipske and Connie were proven to be liars. Then, not long after Don's trial, Deputy Robinson was fired after serving 13-years on the force. He refuses to lie for DA Lipske at trials.
This wasn't the only lie Connie was caught in. Under oath at a preliminary hearing, she testified she had `left Don's house with her sister because Don was belligerent' then testified `Don followed them in his vehicle'. This story was used to make Don look bad. But during questioning by Don's attorney at trial, this story was exposed as a lie. Connie finally admitted she had not left the house with her sister to go to town, but had instead left the house with Don in his vehicle. She admitted that her first sworn story was a lie.
Connie told DA Lipske, and testified at a prelim-hearing and trial, that Don had followed her and her sister to town (admittedly false) then rode around calling her names the entire time she was in town. She testified that she had gone to the Hurley Citgo gas station and used their payphones to make several calls to her family and friends to find a ride to her mom's house for the evening. She testified that while using the phones to call her mom, two sisters and friend Cathy, Don was riding around calling her names. She testified that nobody would give her a ride and claimed Don pulled into the gas station and `talked nice' to her so she got into his vehicle, went home with him, and was then assaulted from midnight until 4am, at which time she said "Don finally fell asleep."
At trial, Don's attorney obtained Certified Ameritech Telephone Usage Records for the 2-payphones Connie testified she had used. These records prove that Connie, 1.) Did not call mom; 2.) Did not call sisters; 3.) Did not call her friend, Cathy. The phone records also prove Don was not riding around calling her names the entire time she was in town and while using the phones, and prove she wasn't assaulted `from midnight until 4am' because the records prove, and she finally admitted, she had called Don at his home at 3:49am and that Don had answered her call. Don told the police all of this the minute he was arrested and asked them to obtain the phone records as proof. They ignored him.
Even if one chooses to ignore all other evidence that Connie falsely accused Don and committed perjury, these certified records already accepted by the court, standing alone, prove that Connie's sworn testimony at a prelim-hearing, and testimony spanning 6-pages of trial transcripts was false, fabricated, and perjured. Connie wasn't looking for a ride to her mom's house; did not call various family members and friend Cathy for a ride as she falsely testified; Don was not riding around calling her names while she used the phones; and there certainly was no assault from midnight until 4am. Connie was in town at 3:49am, calling Don for a ride home. It is well proven and not refuted even by DA Lipske, the judge, or Connie, that Connie fabricated her story and committed perjury at a prelim-hearing and trial. Nobody denies that Don is wrongfully convicted. Nobody. |
